i think you hit the nail on the head by noting what have you got to lose ? i don't rlaley have confidence, but i also don't care much what other people think of me, which for all intents and purposes pretty much amounts to the same thing. it's like a superpower a lot of dorks develop as we grow up, we realize we can't hide our dorkiness even if we tried. so we stop trying to hide it, and presto! instant confidence. now people think we are cool, because we aren't trying to be cool. meanwhile all the formerly cool people are tripping all over themselves trying to maintain their coolness, which is so not cool. it's the reason for the ole coolness switcheroo you see so often. long story short, to be more confident just embrace your inner dork.
